Enviromental quiz.

My carbon footprint is 2.94 tons in a year. Just it’s considering secondary activities.
The average carbon footprint of a Chilean person is 3.87 tons
Recycling just one glass bottle or jar can save enough energy to run your TV for 5 hours around.
The good ingredients to make compost are food and garden waste. Weed, crop waste, leafs, dung of animals among others.
Recycling is understands like the reprocessing of old materials into new products. It is used to reduce the contamination and pollution in our planet. It is the best form to avoid the exhaustion of natural resources and to eliminate the trash.
The recyclable goods can come from home, industries and business.
Is this true? Recycling aluminum uses only 15% if the energy required by virgin production.    No, this sentence is false because recycling aluminum uses only 5% of the energy required by virgin production.

The best 3 tips to avoid the contamination or organize our trash, from my perspective, are:
1.  Do the shopping with a fabric bag.
2.  Buy items with the less packing possible
3.  To separate the recycling trash and put them in a special section.

A picture that changed the world!

I like to take photographs but I think that I am not a good photographer.  I have gone to a lot of exhibitions on “Bellas Artes” museum and they are very interesting. One of this exhibitions was about old people, it’s was amazing and the pictures reflected the whole story of life of persons.  About the presentations, I prefer the pictures on black and white but when they are about landscapes, of course that the color is the best.
I have a digital camera and when I travel I always have it with me.  I would like to have a professional camera and take a course about photography.  I like take pictures about landscapes, but one of the things that I like the most is take pictures of people, the face, the position of the body and see the emotions that they show in front of the camera. If I were a photographer I would like to take pictures of painted bodies but also be the artist who painted the body.
It is a picture that, to me, is really illustrative of the big discrimination problem that was the “Apartheid” In Africa. I don’t know if I like this picture but at least represents the importance of the photography to immortalize important process of world history. Simply, the photography is one of the most important invents of world and make me possible to remember good moments with friends, family and others.
This picture was taken in North Carolina in 1950 and it shows a black man drinks at segregated water fountains. The photographer was Elliott Erwitt of a magazine called Magnum. This picture represents a part of the famous collection “The pictures that changed the world”. I like this picture for the story that represents but is really sad to watch it, represents the misery of the humanity.

Movie

Now I don’t have enough time to watch movies like before, but I love them!
I always try to have some free time to watch them. Actually I love watch programs concerning about cinema like 7mo vicio that recommend a lot of good stories and no popular movies and documental. In relation with that, I haven’t seen many classic movies, but I remember some like,  Dirty dancing and Grease”,  which are very funny and very simple stories ( of course that to the epochs in they were created were really good).
I can`t say what is my favorite movie, but one of the movies I like the most is “Life is beautiful” created on 1997 and directed by Roberto Benigni. This movie reflects the love of a father to avoid the suffering of his son. With humor and creativity, he was able to create a fantastic and pleasant story of competition, like a fun race that they (he and his son) have to win. The context of this movie is in full Nazi-Jewish conflict and, particularly, in a Nazi death camp. I have seen this movie like 10 times and I always have discovered something new.  I recommend this movie; it is really sad at the end but is a good and emotional story. However, if you want to understand and know about the Nazi- Jewish conflict, this movie is not a good option.
I would like to go to the cinema more frequently, but sometimes it seems very expensive to me so I prefer buy movies and watch them into my bed or with fiends. Another option is watch movies trough a web page called “cuevana” that is free and has a variety of movies and TV series. Watch movies from my house is more comfortable.

I’m going to travel to London to plan a trip for group of students, they are in their last year of school.  For that reason they want to have fun and know interesting places. They will be there for a week so now I`m going to specify the daily itinerary:

Beautiful South.

Mm... Holidays, I love Holidays!  I usually spend my summer in the beautiful south central of Chile, specifically in Vilches which is a rural zone localized in the mountain of Talca, near to Maule lagoon. In general, I spend a half of my holidays in Vilches with my mom and a few cousins and the rest in a beach named El Canelo where I stay with my mom, my dad and my dog.  My family is very relaxed so the things that we usually do is walk into the forest near to the beach (amazing view) and take fun pictures,  also we watch a lot of movies and play cards. We used to take with us some friends but now we prefer be alone because is more relaxing and less preoccupations.
My last holidays were great, I spend two weeks in Vilches and I knew a lot of new and nice places, it was like an adventure and I really enjoyed the nature and the fresh air. I think that I want to spend my next vacations at the same place, because there are many places that I don’t discover yet. I would like to know the southern part of Chile and see the native nature and the pretty colors that I imagine there.  Well, of course that I would like to know another country like India, Japan and France. India is my favorite country because there have an amazing variety of cultures, religions and strange traditions.  I hope do this in a few years more, but for now I just can save money!!

Free time!

In this moment I need free time, because with the University and all the work that means be there, I don’t have enough time to be with my friends, watch a movie or just sleep for a long time without be worried about anything.
Well,   but everything depends of our own perception of free time. Now I appreciated a lot be with my classmates and just drink a beer in the grass that is my free time now. My regular activities before entering to the university  are: ride a bike with a close friend, read a good book, go out to eat something delicious with my parents, go out at night and dance a lot, make earrings, etc; I’m still doing all those things but, obviously, in a less frequently.
Now, I’m doing yoga, that helps me to be more relaxed and try to have the control of my mind in adverse situations. In the other hand, I’m very exciting to see the new dance performance of a really good friend, that makes me happy!

Usually I want to do new things, all the time; I would like to learn about cinema, about circus, be aware about student’s situations, etc.
Well I hope have a little more time to do all the things that I want, but for now, I don’t have another option that enjoy that I have and be happy with small things.

Claude Levi Strauss

Levi Strauss was a French social anthropologist. He was born in Brussels, in 1908. He studied philosophy and law in Paris. In 1934, he traveled to Brazil where, with field’s studies, analyzed the aboriginal communities of Mato Grosso and the Amazon.  Levi Strauss worked as a professor in a lot of universities and was awarded with de Honor’s Legion.

His principal thoughts are that the different cultures, theirs behaviors, language and legends show the existence of common patterns in the whole human’s life. Strauss was very famous in the anthropology’s world and his most interesting books and essays are “Race and History” (1952), “Sad tropics” (1995) and the mythological that cover: “The naked man”, among others. Levi Strauss died in France on February 30th, 2009.

The principal reason why I like Levi Strauss is because he did a lot of field’s studies about aboriginal communities in the Amazonian jungle that consolidated his identity as a professional of the anthropology. Apart from that, he is a very good writer, in “The sad tropics”, he used the language, the philosophy and the ethnographic analysis in an exquisite way. Finally, he contributed to the struggle’s program against the racism.

To finish, I would like remember a very good phrase of Strauss:  “A ordered right Humanism , don`t start for itself, on the contrary, it placed the world in front of life, the life in front of man, the respect for the other in front of own love.”
